A Different Week, But a same Phase. Feeling and Controlling your Balance

What Phase are we on?

We are still on Phase 2, continuing to work on feeling and controlling your balance.

What are we working on?

This week, we follow on from last week, where we a) set up your structure, then b) emphasised your feeling of balance. This week, we look to build on-top of that - with a bit more emphasis on holding for longer amounts of time. Once again, we aren't changing things, we are building on-top of things. We will be adding some more responsibility into accuracy with your entries, and focusing on more time controlling your balance.

What should I work on at home?

Don't neglect your structure work and focus on making sure you keep your form when trying to balance.

Handstand Work: Chest to Wall is good again. Of course it is. Don't worry - we'll be adding in BtW (Back to Wall) Soon enough!

Technique Work: Same as last week - really focus on controlling your handstand from the floor, and don't push off the wall. Remember there is no wall for you to use in a free handstand.

Accessory Work:
Hand Strength. Grip Strength. Things like Crow Stands can be useful. Work on stretching your shoulders

Advanced Handstanders: Even more Reps. Do various shapes and transitions, focusing on where your weight is in your hands at all times. Focus on feeling your balance.

Basic Practice Session

Structure Work (15 Minutes):

Wall BodyLine Drills + Floor BodyLine Drills
CtW (Chest to Wall) Handstand

Balance Drills: (15-30 Minutes)

"Toe Pulls" off the Wall. We were doing this in class in the previous week - Chest to Wall handstand - shifting your weight into your fingers and then back to the heel. Feet should come off the wall when you shift into your fingers.
Handstand off the Wall. Same as above - but with emphasis on just holding. Come off the wall anyway you like

Free Handstand Drills: (15-20 Minutes)
Focus on Clean Entries. Free Handstanders look to practice the "Feel of Balance"

(Light) Conditioning:
CtW Handstand, 5 sets of 45s OR 3 sets of 1 Minute+. Rest as needed to maintain high quality of form.

Ok that's enough for now! Have a good week!

Dave
